Today a lot of companies have a documentation system. It can be a quality management system like ISO9000, an environmental managing system like ISO14001 or something entirely different. Documentation of the EU Packaging Directive can profitably be done in connection with an already established and implemented system in the company. This way the company can use the work processes they are already using to document quality, environmental issues or hygiene to document accordance with the EU Packaging Directive. As an example it will provide the company with information regarding insufficient or unnecessary packaging if they register complaints. The system is also likely to hold information regarding material contents of heavy metals (e.g. the raw material specifications).
In this way designing a documentation system to document EU Packaging Directive requirements is no different from designing a documentation system regarding quality, environment or hygiene.
