The scope of all packaging performance tests have up to now been to secure that a packed product can be distributed from production to the consumer without damages (expensive products) or to many damages (in-expensive products).
The new element from the EU's Packaging Directive to packaging operation is the optimisation.
The supplier shall demonstrate the optimal amount of packaging material - not more and not less than needed for him.
