When two boxes are stacked directly on top of each other many have made the calculation that the compression forces are as measured/calculated for one box alone. But in the real life the sides are never placed direct over each other. The sides are not totally flat and/or the sides are not precise over each other. If you make a test where you are measuring compression forces and slowly are moving one box in on top of two or three others as illustrated you get following results.
